Electronic Media Production II (BC 203)

Well hello Kickers and welcome back!

The time has come for a Class to end! I really enjoyed my  Electronic Media Production class with Mr. Harwood! Without this class their would be no "Kickin it With Kiara" no "Kickers" and this blog would still just be an idea. This course has been helpful with helping me one day reach the dream of being a successful blogger and I truly feel like many more doors will be opened because of this class.

Twitter:

I'm still not a big fan of Twitter. I still only use it for a guilty pleasure when something juicy happens on social media or when shade gets thrown. Just recently I used it only for the sole purpose of this class. Now since I'm a blogger I might just put my feelings aside about twitter and actually tweet. I still love following Kim Kardashian, and Beyoncé. Feel free to follow me (click here.)

LinkedIn:

To be honest, I really hate this website, maybe when I get a little older and actually focus on finding a job after college, I'll take more time figuring this website out. LinkedIn is a great tool to help you find a job, but I don't feel very sure of my self right now to put my self out there to the world just yet.
(view my linkedin page here.)

Prezi:

This actually wasn't my first time using this website. I've used this website before for a church slideshow presentation, I definitely wouldn't mind using Prezi instead of PowerPoint for projects.

Green Screen:

I thought this activity was pretty neat, I loved to finally see and do the steps it takes to make the green screen effects work. Even though the picture didn't really justify what I really want to do in life. I'm glad I got the opportunity to do this project.

I had fun going around campus on the bull dog challenge. I also got to play around with a neat software that lets you create slideshows and apply stickers to each picture. even though I choose a simple look for my slideshow, I wouldn't mind using the website again.

Classmate Feature Story:

With this blog post, I actually gained a friend. I got the chance to interview Isaiah Hughes. I had fun getting to know some one who is really going places! I can't wait to see where life takes him next.

I want to thank Mr. Harwood again for opening my eyes about starting this blog. I really enjoyed his class. Thank you Mr. Harwood for giving me that tough love and motivation to keep on going no matter what!

Featured Guest: Mr. David Jenkins and Brittni Lundie from Boeing Aircraft Plant in North Charleston,SC

Hello Kickers! Meet Mr. David Jenkins and Mrs. Brittni Lundie!

Mrs. Lundie is a college recruiter for Boeing and Mr. Jenkins is an Alumni of SC and also works at Boeing as a manufacturing engineer.

(The class taking a picture with the presenters)

During the presentation the presenters talked about Interviewing Skills.

They told us to do Mock Interviews to get us ready for an interview so that we would be comfortable and ready.

They also talked to us about building a portfolio to display our work over the years with communications or anything that has something to do with what ever you are applying for..

One thing that the presenters talked about that stuck with me is that you have to use people that you are connected to, to get where you want to go. Some one that you are connected to, knows someone to get you closer to your goal.

They also talked about attire and how you have to dress to impress. You can't wear a cocktail dress to an interview and think your going to get the job.

I had a great time learning about good interviewing skills with Boeing! Feel free to comment if you know any more interview tips!

Until next time Kickers!

Bulldog Picture Challenge Feat. Kizoa.com

Hey Kickers!

For one of my classes I was asked to do a photo challenge to see how many bulldogs can I find on our universities campus.

After taking all these pictures of bulldogs, I used a website called Kizoa to make a slideshow of all the pictures!

The one thing I like about the website is that you can decorate each picture with different stickers and special effects.

I not really a big fan of stickers and stuff,  so I probably wont be using this website ever again.

I'm glad I tried it though!

Challenge Challenge Challenge
12/8/16

These last few weeks social media has been taken over by the latest craze...challenges. Hashtag challenge this. Hashtag challenge that. What makes it more concerning is that believers are participating in these challenges. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that there is something wrong with that. If we are called to be a light in darkness (Matthew 5:14), why do we try so hard to blend in? The two top challenges are the #unameitchallenge and #mannequinchallenge.
Like I mentioned earlier I don't see anything wrong with believers doing the challenges, but what if these challenges could go past social media? Let's start with the mannequin challenge. This challenge is a recording of a person or a group of people not moving...like mannequins in our favorite department stores. Then we have the you name it challenge. Part of Pastor Shirley Caesar's “Hold My Mule”(yep go ahead and listen to it) song is used while many are dancing or lip syncing to it.
So we have the likes, shares, and everything else that these challenges bring. Some do it for popularity, others do it because they are bored, and few do it just to say they did it. Imagine if believers really did the mannequin challenge in life. Picture it. God and nonbelievers are looking at us. Seeing if we are going to move when we get bad news. How about when our flesh want to go off on someone?Believe it or not, but there are people watching and waiting to see if we are standing like a tree planted by the water (Jeremiah 17:8). That's the real mannequin challenge. Then we have the “u name it challenge”. How many times do we actually declare great things out of our mouth? We will speak negativity and then a week later wonder why we are going through. I can remember after this year's election how I saw and heard so many believers saying the most crazy things. Have we forgotten that we will have whatever we say (Mark 11:23)? When you wake up in the morning what is your confession? Try naming the things God has for you like peace, joy, a future, grace, hope, favor.....YOU NAME IT!
Now that I have your mind thinking, it is my prayer that as believers (especially my generation) we use these challenges as witnessing tools. Better yet let's challenge each other to loving more, praying more, studying God's word, and being a  living witness in the earth. Let's challenge ourselves to live a life on purpose. Remember you are light. Don't let anyone dim you down. You are suppose to be bright and shine! When WE shine...we lead others to the true light, Jesus Christ. #turndownforwhatchallenge

Hughes (Who's) Heading in the Right Direction

"Anything's Possible, you gotta dream like you see obstacles." - J.Cole

Isaiah Hughes is a upcoming mogul... ( remember his name!) He's a sweet guy with a great personality! Ladies, he's also a nice looking guy too... (if I might add!) Hailing from The Peach State of Georgia, by way of the states capital of Atlanta.

Isaiah currently attends the illustrious SC State University where he is a Senior Broadcasting major. Isaiah is also football player. To play football has always been a dream, but reality hit after not earning a scholarship to play, explained Hughes." Isaiah decided to attend SC State to get away from home.   "After graduation I plan to work within a communication office to start my career, Isaiah said."

Mr. Hughes is all about family. "My family inspires me to do well simply because they sacrificed their time to deal with me, declared Hughes." His older brother, Marc, helps him train to be a better athlete. "I come from a family that has made me work hard for everything, I am a hardworking man because of it, professed Isaiah."
(Pictured with his older brother)

(Isaiah and some of his friends enjoying the schools homecoming activites)

Underneath his extracurricular activities and focusing on his education, Isaiah loves to have fun. His favorite musical artist are; J.Cole, Big Krit, and Logic.

Kickers, I can't wait to see what else God has in store for Isaiah Hughes! Follow him on twitter (here.) Until next time, thanks for Kickin' it with me!

Portable Light Projecting Project

Hey Kickers! Coming back to you all with another project! This time I had the pleasure to do a project with one of my favorite gals on SC State campus, Ms. Connie Maybin! ( remember that name, she's going places!)

*disclaimer* Don't judge me, it was an off day!

This project required us to use a reflector: (See picture below)
Notice How the Sun light is directly behind her, but the reflector "reflects" the sunlight on to her face.

In this picture I used the reflector:
As you can tell, that glow on her face is popping! Even though this isn't a great picture, but you will understand how this little trick called a reflector is a beauty secret! In this picture you can tell she has blue locks in her hair. Also, you can see the features on her face clear as day.

Here's the picture without the portable lighting reflector:

In this picture you can't really see her face. Its all one big huge glare. This picture doesn't show how beautiful Connie is. (This Gal is gorgeous inside and out!)

So as you can clearly tell, a reflector makes the difference!

So, Kiara... Where You Trying To Go With Your Life??? (Green Screen Project)

In class, I was given the chance to play with the green screen. I wanted to do something a little different than my other class mates. Instead of choosing a vacation spot like  Paris (Malik, we good bro?) , or sitting with Money ( Love you Mariah!)

Well I chose to pose with one of my favorite Make-Up companies mini store..... M.A.C cosmetics.... I mean like for real, who doesn't like make-up? To be real though, I can see myself being a Freelance MUA on the side, but that's not something I want to do for an actual 9 to 5 job...

Here's the picture with the green screen that I used:

Here's the back ground image I used:

Lastly: Here is the final result with My picture with the MAC counter behind it:

Who really knows what I'm going to do for the rest of my life! Just stay Kickin' It With me to find out!
